Tips for Cooking Chicken in the Oven

Oven-baked whole chickens are affordable and easy to prepare. Roasted chicken dinner can be served as a dinner option at a wedding reception or at a bridal shower party. These simple tips will ensure that your oven-cooked chicken turns out perfect every time.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees on a cooking day. Once the oven is preheated, take the chicken out from the refrigerator. Place the chicken in the sink. All should be washed under cold running water. Dry with paper towels. Put the chicken on a plate. Use 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil to rub the whole chicken.

  • Roast chicken:

Cut potatoes, carrots, and onions into 1-inch cubes. Place the chicken in a roasting tray. Place the chicken breast-side down on top of the vegetable bed. Bake for 1.5-2 hours.

  • Baked chicken:

Place the breast-side down on the chicken in a baking pan. Bake at 350°F for 60 minutes. Take the chicken out of the oven, and then carefully flip it breast-side up. This will ensure that the breasts remain tender and moist.

All methods will indicate that the chicken has been cooked when it registers 165° on an internal meat thermometer in the chest or leg close to the bone.

Take out the chicken and vegetables from the roasting pan. Pour off any remaining juices. Place a cast-iron roasting pan on the stove. Heat over medium heat. Put 2 cups of wine or chicken broth or water in a pan. Deglaze the pan. Season the sauce with salt to your liking. Let the sauce simmer for at least half an hour. Serve with chicken.
