What is an Aquastat?

Furnaces have been around for a long time, and for the majority of that period, they have been one of the most popular heating systems available. As a result, homeowners have gained at least a rudimentary understanding of the various parts of the furnace and their functions.

Hydronic systems, on the other hand, are only now gaining popularity among homeowners. This means that a lot of their inner workings aren't yet well known. Let's look at the aquastat in order to educate homeowners on some of the ways that hydronic systems work.

The Aquastat

An aquastat is a device used in hydronic water heating systems to regulate the temperature within the boiler. You can buy the best quality aquastat online.

An aquastat works similarly to a furnace limit switch in that it keeps the central heating unit at a safe operating temperature. Every aquastat has two settings: a high setting and a low setting.

Most boilers aren't designed to boil water, despite their name. In a system that isn't suited for it, this would result in steam and a dangerous buildup of pressure. As a result, when the boiler hits the high-temperature limit, the aquastat turns it off. This keeps the water warm but not quite boiling.

The boiler would be at risk of overheating or not heating enough to fulfill the home's needs without the aquastat.
